Vinyes del Terrer

Vinyes del Terrer is a small family-run winery in Vila Seca, in the Province of Tarragona, east of Barcelona. The winery was established in 1989 by Joan Maria Morell, tending the 7- hectare vineyard plots and producing the first wines in 2003. There are two unique features of Vinyes del Terrer: first, the proximity of the vineyards (all within 2 km) to the Mediterranean Sea and second, the unique lumaquela soil which is made up of marine-rich fossils. This terroir produces wines with exceptional minerality, freshness and complexity.

Today, the winery is overseen by Joan Maria’s son, Eduard. The vineyards are farmed sustainably with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Around 60,000 bottles of six wines, ranging from the entry level Macabeo-based Blanc del Terrer to the sweet Garnacha-based Terrenal de Aubert Dulce, are produced annually.

Nus del Terrer Blanc

We are delighted to introduce Vinalia members to this barrel aged 100% Sauvignon Blanc, a unique expression of this highly aromatic variety. It is made from a 1-hectare plot from 18- year-old vines and shows the clear influence of the Mediterranean. The fruit is hand-harvested, and the bunches are gently whole-pressed to separate the free- run juice from the pressed must. Fermentation of the press fractions is in small stainless-steel tanks and maturation is in an 1800-litre concrete egg and a 500-litre new oak barrel. For the 2020 vintage, 2,400 bottles were produced.
