VINALIA
October 2025 Release
2023 ANGIULI DONATO
MACCONE MARESCO BIANCO
“Vibrant, piercing, and complex.”

We’re excited to introduce Vinalia’s very first Italian producer: Angiuli Donato! This family-run winery has been rooted in Gioia del Colle, Puglia (the sunny heel of Italy’s boot) since 1880. The region is famed for bold reds, including (but not limited to) Primitivo and Negroamaro. Angiuli Donato showcases these wines beautifully, along with some rare indigenous white varieties, including Maresco Bianco which retains its high acidity even in the hot, mediterranean climate of Puglia. Today, the third-generation Donato Angiuli and his sons, Vito and Giuseppe, care for around 21 hectares of vineyards, crafting terroir-driven wines. Their wines come under three labels: Angiuli Donato, Adelphos, and Maccone—the latter being the pinnacle in their range, lovingly named after a cherished vineyard manager and cellarmaster.

REGION: Puglia, Italy.

VARIETIES: 100% Maresco Bianco.

WINEMAKING: 50-80 year old vines are planted on calcareous loamy soils in the Itria Valley. The grapes are hand-harvested towards the end of September. The wine macerates on the skins for 48 hours to enhance texture and phenolics. Followed by fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks prior to bottling.

TASTING NOTE: A pale, straw colour in the glass with beautiful stone fruit notes, white flowers, lemon balm, and almonds. A slatey minerality and zesty acidity pierces through. A wonderful gastronomic wine.

PAIRING: Seared shrimp, goat cheese, brown-butter gnocchi. Drink now or age 3-5 years.

2023 VIÑAS SERRANAS GARCIBUEY
“A wine for the turning of the seasons.”

Viñas Serranas is a project created in 2017 by Cesar Ruiz, Alberto Martin, Bosi Jimenez, and Miquel Udina. They own around 12 hectares of vineyards that are scattered throughout the Sierra de Salamanca region. This is an up-and-coming region attracting dynamic winemakers to tend the abandoned old bush vines. Viñas Serranas is certified organic, and working towards full conversion to biodynamics. The vineyards are steep and therefore needs to be worked entirely by-hand. Garcibuey is one of three village wines produced by Viñas Serranas. Made entirely with Rufete, an indigenous variety grown in the Sierra de Salamanca, with vineyard soils consisting of slate, schist, and clay. Approximately 1,500 bottles are produced. We are thrilled with the wines from Viñas Serranas and are excited to share them with our members!

REGION: Sierra de Salamanca, Spain.

VARIETY: 100% Rufete.

WINEMAKING: After hand-harvesting in early September, the grapes are fermented using native yeast for 2-3 weeks. The wine is aged in a mixture of 500 and 225 litre used oak barrels.

TASTING NOTE: Ruby hues with aromas of cranberries, cherries and fennel. There is a warmth on the palate with flavours of fresh and dried plums. Subtle earthy notes are complimented by dusty tannins and a long finish.

PAIRING: Sous-vide duck legs, tuna tataki, or turkey with cranberry sauce- the perfect autumn wine! Drink now, but potential to age 3-5 years.

2022 DOMAINE DES ESCARVAILLES
LA PONCE
“Focused and pure. A quiet confidence.”

Within sight of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux, the family run Domaine de Escarvailles is in the Southern Rhône cru of Rasteau. Its name originated from ‘Escaravay,’ which means beetle in the local Occitan dialect. The estate was established in 1953 by Jean-Louis Ferran who subsequently planted vines with the intention of producing and bottling his own wines. Today, the winery is run by Jean-Louis’ great granddaughter, Madeline, who works alongside her father, Gilles and grandfather, Daniel. The vineyards face southeast at an altitude of 350 m. The soils are predominantly blue marl with the round ‘gales roulés’ pebbles also found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. ‘La Ponce’ is the name of a single vineyard where the grapes for this estate flagship wine comes from.
REGION: Rasteau, Southern Rhône.

VARIETY: 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah.

WINEMAKING: The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard. After destemming, the Grenache and Syrah are fermented separately in concrete tanks for 28-35 days with daily punch-downs and pump-overs. Thereafter, the Grenache is matured in concrete and the Syrah in old oak barriques (225 litres) for 15 months.

TASTING NOTE: A beautiful red in the glass with deeper notes of dark cherries, blackberries, red currants, liquorice, and wet stone. On the palate, a subtle spiciness mingles with the darker fruit and tannins to create a balanced wine.

PAIRING: Herb crusted lamb or beef, portobello mushrooms, and roasted potatoes. Drink now, but potential to age 5-7 years.
